Almost at the finish!
Nippo Lake Guardians (45) and Friends (16) have raised $119,865. Despite these trying times the Nippo Lake community has stepped up to secure a bright, sustainable future for our shared lake. You can join in and donate online or by mail with a check to Nippo Lake Association, PO Box 213, Barrington NH 03825. As the Nippo Lake Association is a 501c3, your donation is eligible for a new, temporary charitable deduction (limited to $300) established by the CARES Act in tax year 2020 for taxpayers who claim the standard deduction.
August 2021 Fundraising Update
In the 13 months since we launched the Let’s Be Clear campaign to restore Nippo’s water quality, Nippo Lake Guardians and Friends have contributed $119,865. Used to match a $172,000 NH DES grant, these funds made June’s Alum treatment possible. As promised, we now enjoy a pristine lake, clear to the bottom. We aren’t finished yet.
Post treatment lake monitoring, water sampling, testing and further laboratory studies will continue for another year. We are almost there: only $10,000 left to reach our goal of $130,000. Please consider buying a Princess Nippo daylily package, buying a raffle ticket for our Nippo Wildlife Quilt, making a donation in honor of someone who loved Nippo, topping up your contribution, or becoming a Nippo Lake Guardian or Friend if you have not already done so.

November Grant Update
On September 23rd, 2020 the NH Governor and Executive Council formally approved the Nippo Lake Association’s $172,000 Watershed Assistance Grant and related grant agreement with NH DES. This official confirmation brings us a giant step closer to realization of our goal of implementing a transformative in-lake treatment in 2021, the first of its kind in New Hampshire in nearly 40 years. The grant award, together with the $111,500 raised thus far in the Nippo Lake Guardians campaign, all but assures the funding needed to complete the project. NH DES, working closely with Nippo Lake Association's expert Certified Lake Managers, Don Kretchmer and Ken Wagner, has completed three rounds of lab testing of our lake water to permit them to design a scientifically customized treatment plan and issue final NH DES approval. We expect the treatment design and regulatory approval will be complete by year-end with bidding of the project to begin in early 2021. The treatment itself is expected to occur in late Spring. Congratulations and thanks to the entire Nippo Lake community for your support of this historic effort. And, yet again, Nippo Lake Association's collective gratitude is especially due to NH DES, particularly Sally Soule, Dave Neils, Kirsten Nelson, Lisa Loosigian and their colleagues for their guidance and unwavering support in this historic journey back to health for Nippo Lake.
